What is BleachBrightPRO?

BleachBrightPRO is an in-office procedure for whitening discolored teeth. A beautiful, white smile can make a difference in patients’ lives and motivate them to take better care of their teeth. BleachBrightPRO whitens teeth up to 8 shades in less than an ½ hour, not including preparation time.

How does BleachBrightPRO work?

The active ingredient in BleachBrightPRO is hydrogen peroxide. The whitening gel formula is broken down by using our BB-Cool Advanced III whitening light. As the formula breaks down, it penetrates the pores of the enamel to bleach the stain deposits within the dentin clear. This then gives the tooth its white appearance. Although this process does penetrate the tooth enamel, it will not
damage it.

Which patients are good candidates for BleachBrightPRO?

A consultation is recommended to ensure no underlying oral health issues. Patients should also receive a professional teeth cleaning prior to their teeth whitening appointment. As with any other whitening, you may want to treat existing issues before recommending a whitening treatment, and disqualify any patient who is perioinvolved, exhibits failing restorations or is otherwise in an
unhealthy oral state.

We recommend that the following whitening candidates consult a medical doctor before use:

  • „„Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers
  • „„Children under the age of 14 years
  • „„People currently being treated by their physician for a serious illness or disorder (e.g. immune compromised, AIDS and uncontrolled diabetes, etc.)
  • „„Light sensitive individuals, including those on PUVA (Psoralen + UV Radiation) or other photochemotherapy
  • „„Patients taking any photo-reactive drugs or substances, whether over-the-counter, prescription or homeopathic

Patients who are not eligible for BleachBrightPRO for these reasons may be good candidates for the Home Whitening System or maintenance pen.

Who may benefit from BleachBrightPRO?

Almost everyone will achieve a whiter smile with BleachBrightPRO. However, it may not be as effective
for some as it is for others. Yellow staining from aging, tobacco, dark cola, tea, coffee and red wine will achieve the greatest success with this procedure. Those patients with grey shading from tetracycline or other chemicals may experience less dramatic results, but could expect improvement from this brief procedure. For those patients with severe stains, we recommend the 3-IN-1 system
with at home follow up to improve results. No whitening product will lighten porcelain, composite or any other restorative material.

It is the responsibility of the dental professional to determine if a patient is a viable candidate for this procedure through an oral exam, including a shade assessment. It is important to manage patient expectations based on the findings of the oral exam to ensure patient satisfaction.

Does BleachBrightPRO require refrigeration?

Yes, please make sure to put the syringes in the refrigerator upon arrival. To make it more convenient for you to refrigerate, we send the whitening syringes separate from the rest of the materials so they will take up less space in your refrigerator. Remove 1 hour prior to whitening to ensure the gel is room temperature and will not cause unnecessary sensitivity to cold.

Which lamps can be used with BleachBrightPRO?

BleachBrightPRO works best with the BB-Cool Advanced III whitening light. Results can be achieved with other lamps, but results are only guaranteed when using the BB-Cool Advanced III.

How long after a treatment can a patient eat or drink?

Avoid consuming food and drink for 30 minutes after the session. For the first 24 hours, we recommend avoiding coffee, tea, cola, red wine, berries, or any foods that have the propensity to stain. The best rule of thumb is to not eat or drink anything that will stain a white t-shirt. If coffee is an absolute must then we suggest using a straw and rinsing with water.

What is recommended for sensitivity?

Sensitivity during and/or after treatment may occur with some patients but will dissipate. Patients who have existing sensitivity, recession, exposed dentin, exposed root surfaces, recently cracked teeth, abfactions (microcracks), open cavities, leaking fillings, or other dental conditions that allow penetration of the gel into the tooth are more susceptible to sensitivity. Use the vitamin E swabs to prevent sensitivity before the whitening.
